All children experience a different language and develop a love for learning a different language.
ensure we offer a relevant, broad, vibrant and ambitious foreign languages curriculum that will inspire and excite our pupils using a wide variety of topics and themes.
The four key language learning skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing will be taught and all necessary grammar will be covered in an age-appropriate way across the primary phase. This will enable pupils to use and apply their learning in a variety of contexts, laying down solid foundations for future language learning and also helping the children improve overall attainment in other subject areas.
Implementation
We implement this in school through a range of different strategies:
Children in KS2 are given a 30 – 45 minute lesson on one afternoon a week.
Children will learn a 6 week unit every half term and these will be different and progress as the children move up to Year 6.
Staff use Spanish greetings to do the register and children are encouraged to find new Spanish words outside of school.
Children will be practise reading, writing, listening and speaking Spanish with the aim that they will have a good transition to secondary school where they will also learn Spanish.
Children experience Spanish culture such as dancing, cooking and History.

The impact of our MFL approach is:
Children read, write, speak and listen confidently in Spanish.
Children have a love of learning languages.
Children feel comfortable and confident to share their knowledge of other Spanish speaking countries.
